Week 3 Term 2

Monday

This week has been fantastic. On Monday after morning tea we went up to the A.L.C to play volley ball as a class. I already know a bit about volleyball, so it was really helpful to practice the moves again, and at the end we even managed to fit in a game. My team did really well as we won our game, and lots of people improved lots, and I think that it really helped everyone as we all seemed to get a lot better as the day went on. I really enjoyed playing it, and I really hope that we get to go and play it more often. It was lucky that we got to play a spot in the morning because in the afternoon we did a math test. I really like math, and I don't think that I did that bad in the test.Although I don't enjoy taking tests I know that they are helpful, and they tell you what you need to work on and what you already know.

Tuesday

On Tuesday we had tech arts, but instead of doing science we have moved on to music. Although it is not my favorite subject for tech arts, it was still alright. We started to learn how to play the guitar, but my favorite instrument by far was the board. We learnt how to play a short balled that wasn't that hard, and we did a bit of book work as well as learning about a different countries music.

Wednesday

On Wednesday band camp was starting up, and our school was hosting it like we do every year. Although I wasn't in it, I know that the students actually in it were a bit nervous to start off with, but in the end they all said that it was fantastic and that they all really enjoyed it. While they were at band camp, we were having a cruisy day we got to choose what we wanted to do out of reading, writing and maths. I really like days like that because if you are really ahead in writing and you weren't that much ahead in maths you could just do maths for the entire block.

Thursday

On Thursday the students that went to band camp held a concert. Our teacher let us choose weather or not we wanted to go no one that was in our class wanted to go, so we watched a movie instead. It was real fun because we also got to choose what work we wanted to do just like on Wednesday. I finished my writing and what we have to do in maths I have also made a really good start on my reading.

Friday

On Friday we had tech arts again we pretty much just did the same thing as last week except this time we got to compose our own Irish Jig that we then played on the keyboard. I had a really fantastic week and I can't wait for another one!

Week 2 Term 2

This week has been great. On Monday we did Lacrosse that is a sport that requires these long sticks with netting heads on the ends of them. The heads of the sticks are used for catching a heavy ball you can also use your stick to pass or scoop up the ball. When we went to learn how to play the sport the man taught us all of these fancy moves that were really hard to do, he also showed us how to steal or scoop up the ball. On Tuesday we had tech arts it was our second to last session in science, and we made bath bombs. We were given our ingredients and we got to choose a colour to make it. Everyone chose different colours then we put the bowls in the middle and layered our bath bombs with different colours my one had three layers green then pink then blue. I really enjoyed making the bath bombs and I can't wait to test it out. Thursday was fantastic I had extension art, and I am painting a landscape. Although I have started painting onto the canvas, we still learnt lots about mixing and blending colours I mixed a colours

Week 1 Term 2

I am really excited to get back to school although, the holidays were fantastic. On Monday we were straight back to work we started working on editing our piece of writing that we wrote at the end of last term. My writing is alright considering that we haven't properly edited it yet. Another exciting thing that happened on Monday was Mrs Crowe told us that we have science fair coming up this term in week nine, so last night I gave it some thought and I came up with a few ideas. On Tuesday we had tech art (science)  the task we had to complete was changing green salt water to fresh drinkable water we were given two flasks, one tube, two hot mits, two buns/corks, a hot plate and 100 mils of water we completed the task by putting the two bungs into the flasks then we put one flask onto the hot plate and the other onto the bench the flask on the hot plate was then filled with the water next we connected the two tubes between flasks and left the water to boil. The water was able to be transferred from one flask to the other because water boils at a lower temperature than salt does therefor turning the water into a steam and going down the tube to the other flask. Because the other flask was off the heat the steam turned back into water. I didn't actually taste it but apparently it tasted like water just a bit rubbery. Somewhere in the whole process me and my partner managed to melt our tube, but luckily for us our teacher is really nice and she said that it was fine and that she would just chop it shorter. At the end of the session the science teacher talked about science fair, and I also asked her some questions about topics and at this point in time I am thinking that I am going to have the question how does the colour of water affect the evaporation speed caused by the sun's heat. On  Tuesday a man named Mike King came and spoke to us at the start of his speech he told us about how he used to be a stand up comedian and he also told us some jokes that were hilarious then he started to talk about depression and he pretty much told us his life story it was really interesting, and some of the time funny like when he made his jokes.I left school after morning tea but in the time that I was there we did maths I have finished all of the work that I can do until tomorrow which is good. We also have lots of exciting things to look forward to this week such as tomorrow we have extension art, and on Friday we have Belmont trials. Belmont is a school in Auckland that we do a sport exchange with half of the teams stay at our school and they come down and the other half goes up and it rotates each year. Last year in went to their school as a exchange student to play netball, but this year netball is staying down, so I am trialing for mixed volleyball because it is traveling up there. So I am really looking forward to the rest of the week. but luckily for us our teacher is really nice and she said that it was fine and that she would just chop it shorter.
